About The Artwork

I was inspired to create this painting after I heard about and then researched the ancient reptilian brain, which was the first and most primitive part of the brain to evolve. I realised that symbolically and literally it is the catalyst for almost all life and mankind, so I made a painting that catalogues the start of the brain's development from the ancient lizard surrounded by appropriate buildings to the rise of humans surrounded by more appropriate buildings. Of course, I portrayed it in my own surreal way, so it's not meant to be historical in a traditional sense. I just wanted to make something where its bright colours and appearance of movement from left to right gave the impression of a huge explosion of life at the start and, on the other side, the world we see now. I find the subject matter to be existential and rather fascinating, and I believe that it will create a sense of awe with the viewer, who will no doubt discover many of the details that I don't want to ruin for you here.
