About The Artwork

And As I Lay Down, The Devil Curled Up Beside Me In My Brain. Whispering Sweet Nothings Along With The Wind Video - https://youtu.be/Q3eW3AzY-CE An evolving process of layering; from imitating flower works, to using the canvas as a mop, to switching the front and back continuously, to adding texture with pens and markers, and then to eventually to these sentences that come from a long writing. At one point “orange pink” was written in large green letters. And as I lay down, the devil curled up beside me in my brain. Whispering sweet nothings along with the wind. Not aggressive, nor evil, just talking to me like the way we talk to our cats. A single narrative amongst two beings, that is propelled by an individual, seemingly connected. “Tonight, we shall rest, and gather strength for the day. For tomorrow, we will grab at the hands of inspiration, eating and gnawing at all our eyes feast upon, ingesting little pieces of it all, to process and spit out something, something that is truly inspiring, that is true chaos. Something that is more than what all these others have to offer, none of this unorganisation framed as spontaneity or chaos, we want the real chaos, that that grips you by your throat and shouts down your mouth, telling you to break all that you are to become nothing (but fire).” I said “this sounds lovely, I’m looking forward to the embrace of this tornado, to embody it, to become it. But for now, sleep does call me, and it is but minutes to midnight, the time that I usually sleep at.” “Goodnight my friend, take these last moments of calm that you feel, for the experiences that shall bequeath us in morning, are those of great speed and intensity” “Goodnight devil cat, you are warm and soft beside me in my brain, keep us safe for tonight, may you lay awake whilst I prepare this mind for the enchanting that is soon upon us.”
