ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I was inspired to paint this kaleidoscopic pattern by a colorful scarf in my collection. I started by drawing one quadrant and then tracing and reversing the drawing until the composition was complete. Then I did an underpainting of solid red. The image was created with many coats of thin oil glazes which added depth and complexity to the colors. This image was not assisted by any digital manipulation, but meticulously painted by hand.
