It pains me that he draws guns and fighting all the time. I wish it was harmony or happiness. I am reassured by books and others that this is because he is a boy. As a baby, the girls want to nest and the boys want to hit things. I think that they are perhaps programed to do this by the soup of human experience and hormones. We are mammals. Stone Age systems operating in a space age world. And so we parents try to harness those urges, turn aggression to organized sport. Alien shootings into kite flying.

Amy Bernays lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Born in London, she graduated with a BA(honors) in Fine Art from Central St Martins College in 2001. Her paintings are landscapes of personal interaction; poems to the love of line. Working with non-linguistic communication such gesture, body language, lingering looks and gossip. Her work is anthropological and personal, ponderings on the great themes of life, love and leisure. AKA Amelia Bernays Pitti (what systemic sexism?)
