Aqua Bella by Noora Elkoussy, 2018, Acrylic, 16" x 20" This abstract acrylic on canvas comes ready to hang without a frame, but you may also choose your own frame after purchase. I always work with bright color palettes and love shades of blue, but rarely with so much white, so this is a unique experiment. I am inspired by color and mood and work on paintings over days and weeks in multiple sittings. What I start on day one is often very different in the final scene. All my work after 2013 reflects my need to cope with the pain of having a brain tumor and an excruciating surgery that failed to remove it. Painting allowed me to find a new normal after realizing I could not return to my overseas work with refugees or work a typical 9-to-5 job. I live with a brain tumor, am partially blind in one eye, and have continuous irregular migraines, but painting is a calming and healing practice I love to squeeze in when the pain is bearable.
