For those not aware of my artistic process here’s a quick overview: Banged out a bachelor’s degree in design arts and ended up in Los Angeles directing videos and painting at night in my apartment using repurposed materials I could find in the streets. Turns out the ‘city of broken dreams’ has a bounty of free bookshelves to paint on because people be moving back home, like all the time. This materials process evolved into sourcing wood scraps from local craftsmen and painting on them using your old house paints. Yep, you helped out too. Thanks for the Kona brown you didn’t end up painting your garage with, it really pops. "So Parker, who are these beings you’ve painted?"

Good question you curious kitty. I’ll give you the “I’m at a party and don’t have time to read a whole book” version. For years I have been painting portraits. Not like, “oh look there’s John” but more like Parker totally made that person up and it’s probably some reflection of his psyche. Then I had a psychedelic experience last summer during which I saw light and sound energy traveling along paths of sacred geometry weaving our entire physical existence together. Unified field theory anybody? Now my made up portraits are painted using the ‘divine designs’ I saw that day. The portraits I created using these patterns represent spirit bodies. For the Christians in the room you can think of them as guardian angels. That’s the basics. I could go on for hours. Cool, so you totally get it right? Me neither. Feel free to ask the burning questions.

I'm what is called a "process painter." I have been developing a series of steps which I take to create a work of art slowly over the course of a decade. Each new painting or series of paintings represents one minor tweak to my process. The first step is to acquire materials: These paintings were made using entirely recycled materials I salvage. This includes wood and canvas materials, latex, spray and acrylic paints and whatever I can get my hands on. These materials are sourced from the streets of the areas I inhabit, and through donations. Once I have materials I then do some carpentry to smooth out rough edges, build hanging on the back, and whatever else needs to happen to take the quality up a notch. Once I'm there - it's time to paint. The interior of my mind is on visual display. Concepts, emotions, and elements of my psyche come from the depths of my being up to the forefront of my mind - making their way onto the canvas. The scenes and character portraits are archetypes symbolic of mindsets, maturity levels and spiritual evolution occurring within me. As a process painter I showcase my own dichotomy through steps by beginning in chaotic abstraction before reigning it all in to create recognizable portraits. Just as mankind attempts to reign in the chaos of being alive in the cosmos so too my paintings hone in the randomized effects of abstract painting into figurative work. Balancing out the rawness with quantifiable patterns. This existential mind in an eternal conversation flowing between the body, mind, subconscious and soul.
