The canvas tells of the love of Aristaeus, a son of the god Apollo, for the young Eurydice, with of Orpheus. Eurydice does not return Aristeo’s love and one day, in an attempt to escape his attention, she stumbles upon a poisonous snake and dies from a single bite.

The work was born from a collaboration between a Canadian sculptor and a lover of foreign literature of Italian origin. The collaboration, which has its beginnings in the picturesque setting of Lake Como, continues, more productive than ever, on an island in the heart of the Mediterranean made alive by the tide and motion of the waves, the active volcano Etna and tales of local mythology. The canvases have a dialogic character which comes to life via an effective conversation between the simultaneous action of the two authors. The philosophical artistic formation of one and the literary humanistic of the other, the yin and the yang, are intertwined in a common vocabulary, a visual language of colour, gesture and form: this is our lexicon, our morphs-syntax, the grammar of our language.
