About The Artwork
Awesome Gal is a Tennessee Walking horse, rescued by Cameron Ring. She had undergone the brutal practice called "soring", which is a barbaric mutilation of a horse's front legs in order to give them what is called "the lift"---a typical high step caused by the horse's agony when its front hooves touch the ground. I was powerfully moved by Awesome's story and have joined the movement to abolish this brutality. Awesome Gal now lives out her days in peace, tended in love by rescuer Cameron Ring.
