Hand-painted abstract fine art. With a color palette of different shades of grey, petrol combined with elegant nude and white tones. Painting to smooth jazz rhythms Sophie Mangelsen creates her own and typical gestural abstractions with constant visual interest of jazzy elegance. Mangelsen‘s informal art appeals to introspection and evokes a both inner and outer dialogue with the viewer. BATHING AT NIGHT is painted with gestural strokes of brush and spate. In its simplicity of an understated, subtle palette combined with the energy of bold brush it embraces a dialogue toward lightness, minimalism and introspection. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Signed, dated on the side and back, entirely colored on the edges and ready to hang. Sophie Mangelsen creates her very own and characteristically gestural abstractions, giving them her very personal touch of elegance, rhythm and finesse, all in a Berlin understatement vibe. Her informal art appeals to introspection and evokes an inner and outer dialogue with the viewer - posing questions about consciousness and unconsciousness, harmony and disharmony, balance and imbalance - to inner landscapes of the complexity of our mind. Sophie Mangelsen, from Berlin, is additionally inspired on her journey by her experience as a psychologist and therapist. She studied at the Université Paris VIII and the University of Leipzig and found her form of expression in painting already in her youth. Her paintings are shown at international exhibitions and are in private collections around the world. In 2022 she was invited as a jury member in the international competition of BALTHASART. The artist lives in Berlin Kreuzberg.
