I visited this historic Badami town in Karnataka State, India, several times in the last several decades. The Chalukya dynasty has ruled this region for more than six centuries, and this Badami was their capital. They have built dozens of temples, and forts, carved out huge boulders making them attractive cave temples, etc., This painting is a view of life in the vicinity of the ancient Banashankari temple in Badami. Viewers of this painting experience the ancient structures visually, as well as aesthetically due to its lighting, resulting in pleasing contrast, composition, and color. This is a watercolor artwork using world-class materials, such as Baohong brand rough 300 gsm/140 lb 100% cotton paper and painted using German make Schmincke Horadam professional quality paints.
