Gold abstract painting "Bali Phalaenopsis" - Gold leaf background, hand gilded - Minimalism style This painting is a part of my floral collection. Flowers have always been a symbol of feminine beauty. They are often associated together mainly because of their natural beauty and delicacy. I wanted to represent this link by using a single line, which is a symbol of infinity. The flowers represent the cyclical nature of life, the mix of continuity and evolution for over and over. With the arrival of spring, they open, blossom, and wither, before turning into fruit that will give birth to a new plant. It will in its turn make flowers, thus embodying the path of life. This artwork represents the power of nature and its infinite beauty while telling a story about the femininity and beauty of this world. For this artwork, I used my special gilding techniques to elaborate a background in Gold foil. After this step the one-line drawing is painted on a gold background. This thin continuous black line is in relief on gold, making this artwork very refined and singular, in the minimalist and modern style. Mariya Velychko is a contemporary artist from Nice, on the French Riviera. Her artworks combine ancestral and contemporary gilding techniques with the modernity of pure lines and natural elements, magnified by the shifting luminosity of gold. She fell in love with the working of gold many years ago. Its warm color, a symbol of refinement and elegance, is now at the core of her creations, inspired by women, nature, animals, or the south of France. She is also passionate about working with the natural elements, transforming them into finely chiselled metal sculptures, gorgeously accentuating all features of these compositions. Her style: pure lines, specific techniques, and meticulous know-how.The shifting luminosity of gold and minimalist representations are at the heart of her artworks, full of lightness and great finesse. Light is the key element in her work, it constantly interacts with the textures and shapes creating the singularity of her artworks.
