Balinese Woman Painting

Greetings! My name is Uliana, and I would like to share with you the story behind my new painting, "Balinese Woman". This painting is the first in a series of works dedicated to the rich culture and traditions of Bali. When creating this painting, I observed the daily lives of Balinese women and was struck by their ability to carry large objects on their heads with ease and grace. I decided to convey this image in my painting by depicting a woman carrying a basket of vibrant fruits on her head. The background of the painting is an abstract green vegetation, symbolizing Bali's lush greenery, where palms, rice fields, fruits, and vegetables grow in abundance. I also added a black rooster in the woman's hands, which is a symbol of the god Vishnu during Balinese offering ceremonies. Vishnu is one of the principal deities in Hinduism, known as the preserver of the universe. According to Balinese beliefs, Vishnu is responsible for the maintenance and protection of the world.. However, I wanted to convey that women in Bali seem to have several arms, being able to carry both fruits and roosters at the same time, which is another feature of the uniqueness and strength of Balinese women. My painting, "Balinese Woman", conveys the power and grace of Balinese women, their ability to be strong and feminine at the same time. I hope it inspires your respect and admiration for this amazing island and its culture.
