About The Artwork

Ballet of Moscow This painting is part of my “Cities and Emotions” series. The beginning of the war inspired me to create the picture, but the statement of this picture is limited to Moscow. The picture wants to convey the idea that the war is also being waged against the historical values of Russia. It is an image against dictatorship and war. The painting is intended to remind us that decades of "cultural merit" are quickly forgotten by a dictatorship and that the international perception of a nation will suffer for a long time. Historically and culturally, Russia belongs to Europe, it is the land of Gorky, Pushkin, Tchaikovsky and many other important Russian (European) artists. The ballet Swan Lake, which premiered in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, is one of the most important works of European culture. The couple symbolizes the historical values that are currently being destroyed by war. For the depiction of the suffering caused by the war, I "quoted" Picasso and included some of his symbols in the picture. These are shown in ghostly form, expressing the desire and also the conviction that these are only temporary appearances. Putin and his government are not to be equated with Russia. I am convinced that the time will come when Russia will again belong to the community of Europeans.
