About The Artwork
ARTIST'S NOTES Inspired by organic cells, fossils, minerals and flowers, the artist used India ink in combination with elements of the ancient Japanese Suminagashi technique of paper marbling. The aim was to create visual forms and textures that imitate and amplify nature. Due to the qualities of the materials used, the process of making was very fluid and alive, the resulting elements are partly calculation and partly chance; the outcome of both ceding the artist’s control over the process and being acutely aware of the development of forms and textures. Just like in nature, every element is unique and cannot be repeated. Cutouts, made alongside the ink elements, both echo and contrast them, serving as an allusion to the fragility of our nature. The artwork evokes a sense of meditative calm and tranquility and invites for a moment of quiet reflection. DETAILS Size: 84cm x 59cm | 33" x 23" Materials: India ink on beautifully textured Khadi paper made in India from 100% cotton rugs. Signature: signed with initials in the bottom right corner. Framing: supplied unframed, with detailed mounting and framing instructions. Bespoke framing (at cost price) can be arranged prior to shipping, upon request. Ariadna Dane is an artist living and working in London, UK. Through her upbringing in Siberia and travelling, she has discovered a connection to nature, which has become a source of inspiration for her evolving art practice. The creative process involves experimentation with techniques to imitate and amplify nature. Dane creates forms and textures that have a natural aesthetic and quality, reminiscent of organic cells, celestial structures, basic life forms or fossils.
