That's the story behind "Basque" painting: Basque Country – August 1987 “In this small town, every step taken reminds me of the will of those who resisted. On the sides of the streets stone walls have been built like silent guides that tell of a past that still remains in people's memories. Every corner of this place echoes the pride of those who fought for their land. In this place that has never forgotten the violence, even the stones talk. So in my slow exploration my gaze was captured by a man, an elder, sitting on a chair outside a tavern. His wrinkled face, pointed chin, right arm stretched out to hold a wooden stick, his back straight, the fierce gaze turned to stare away. Impelling curiosity forced me to sit next to him. I wanted him to tell me in his own words the history of those lands, the passions of its inhabitants, the rituals, the daily life, the wars ... but I didn't stop. I went on without interrupting that silent meditation...”
