Oil on card painting made from a found photograph of a young bear with a strap buckled around it. The painting is mounted within a wooden dark slide used to make negatives in large plate cameras from the 1890s till 1920s. I am referencing the depiction of animals as vulnerable subjects. We have profound and lasting effects on the natural world, and we will suffer the consequences of any major change in the amount of energy in our weather system.

I make work about the division, opposition and collusion between animals and humans. Oil painting, drawing, assemblage, collage and the re-use of materials and objects are central to my work. Painting selected for the 171 RWA Open exhibition 2024, I won the Ovalhouse prize at Chelsea College of Art, and Gloucester University prize at the Open West. I was on the committee of the Newlyn Society of Artists for 6 years. I have exhibited in Berlin and Baku, Zdonov in the Czech Republic, London, Exeter and Birmingham and I am represented by Daisy Laing, Penzance. My work is in private collections in Hong Kong, USA, France, Italy, Germany and the UK.
