ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The canvas of Inga Makarova serves as a visual symphony, where the legendary canines of space lore, Belka and Strelka, are immortalized with dramatic flair. The artist's mastery of acrylics is evident in the rich, orange hues of the cosmonauts' suits, a stark contrast to the dark expanse that serves as a backdrop. This piece is a vibrant celebration of achievement, where the spirit of the space race era is captured through a mosaic of inscribed historical slogans. Makarova's work stands as a beacon of creativity, where artistry and the annals of space conquest blend seamlessly. With each brushstroke, she crafts a narrative that is as much a reflection of her dedication to the arts as it is a portrayal of epochal events. The integration of neon light not only adds a literal luminescence to the piece but also symbolizes the enlightenment that these pioneering voyages brought to humanity. This artwork is not merely a visual treat; it's a dynamic and engaging story that resonates with the courage and curiosity that define our quest for knowledge.

Since early childhood I was always drawing or painting something. However, in my teenage years I newer perceived art as something serious, something one can do for a living. I used to think that I need a “serious” and down to earth profession, while art will remain as something for my soul, a hobby to enjoy during my free time. Now, after almost a decade, my way of thinking completely changed. I am sure that you should enjoy what you do and do what you enjoy. It is impossible to create something meaningful and important if you don’t love what you do, if you have no passion about it. And if you love what you do, it will never turn into a boring routine. I am permanently in search for new themes, concepts, images, new combination of colors and forms. And even if I choose an ordinary theme, I try to transfer it to canvas in a unique and fresh manner. Style or technique of an artwork is not as important for me, as the process of its creation and the result that I receive at the end. Lately, in addition to my experiments with various sources of light, like neon or LED that are used directly in the artwork, I also started experimenting with various objects that are often quite far from art, for example sport jackets, tableware, cutlery, etc.
