Benchmark Painting

Andrée Tracey lives and works in St. Petersburg, Florida. Inspired by the tropical light and vivid colors of her hometown, she creates paintings that are bright and colorful, sometimes tinged with a bit of drama, sometimes with humor. She has a fascination with the beauty and energy of Nature, in the power generated by wind and water, and her emotional response is reflected in her work. She graduated from the University of Iowa as a painting major and later studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. She has been a professional artist her entire life, working in a wide range of media including painting, collage and photography. Her artwork has been utilized for book covers, magazines, stationary and fabrics. She is the recipient of various national grants and fellowships such as an NEA in Painting and numerous Polaroid Photography Fellowships. Her paintings and photographs can be found in the collections of private individuals as well as museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, France.
