About the Artist

Angelika Schäfer

Germany

My work explores the emotional landscapes of memory, connection, and everyday life. Each painting and sculpture begins with a personal experience, then evolves into a visual narrative that invites viewers to bring their own stories and interpretations. Rather than illustrating a single moment, I seek to create pieces that continue to reveal themselves over time.

Art has been part of my life since childhood. I was inspired by my father, who created linoleum prints, and my mother, who sketched the natural world. These early influences, combined with years of studying and teaching art internationally, have shaped a practice that balances technical skill with intuitive expression.

I work primarily in oil and mixed media, drawn to the luminous depth and versatility of oil paint. Building layers slowly allows me to create rich surfaces, subtle textures, and an emotional resonance that rewards close viewing. My sculptural work, created in hand-built low-fire clay, explores organic form and the expressive power of touch and gesture.

I create work that encourages reflection and connection. Whether through a painting or a sculpture, my goal is to make pieces that become meaningful companions in the spaces they inhabit, inviting collectors to discover something new with each encounter.
