ABOUT THE ARTWORK
With this painting I wanted to create a jigsaw type effect, essentially cutting the composition through the middle. By creating a canvas that can be separated, I wanted to draw attention to the importance of harmony and the fragile nature of ecosystems. The flower represents a resurgence of life, and stands defiantly against an arid background where nothing can grow. The title 'Through the Veil', is a suggestion of a metaphysical existence that is beyond human perception.

Simon Boyd
Argentina
Simon Boyd, born in London 1978, studied Fine Art at Middlesex, 1997-2001. He has lived in Argentina since 2007. Simon has held solo shows in both Argentina and the UK; ‘The Jousters Banquet’ at the British Arts Centre, Buenos Aires, in 2009 and ‘Also Light…’ at Anteros Arts Foundation, Norwich, 2023 to name a few. He has also participated in the International Contemporary Art Biennial, Buenos Aires, in 2016. A key inspiration for the colour and depth of his work is the South American landscape of La Pampa. Simon's use of palette echoes the sense of vitality and purity the landscape there evokes.
