Bidden Painting

Driven by the energy and momentum of coastal light and the weather it tangles with, I have increasingly painted scenes such as this. The forms taken by the clouds, which are a result of the wind, water and light, are as a song to me. Containing a story that is felt as much as seen. I want you to feel that story, that longing or tempered force that I feel when I'm amongst the coast. I paint using Golden Acrylics, and blend them with retarder to slow drying time. This also allows me to create translucent layers which helps build a sense of depth. I tend to work alla prima, and with only one or two sittings to a painting. This was certainly true with this. I want the paint to retain my marks, to dance and play with your perception. The painting is unframed and unvarnished, although a varnish can be applied if requested (no charge).
