This painting was inspired by exploring my British roots, honoring my belated Grandma who was a spirited cockney girl and capturing the spirit of London in all its glory and 50 shades of grey.

Steph Fonteyn is a Swiss artist whose work explores courage, transformation, and the human spirit of adventure. Blending abstraction with symbolism, her paintings often feature elements such as ski lifts, swimmers, and expressive figures as metaphors for resilience, exploration, and the journey into the unknown. In recent years, Steph’s artistic practice has evolved toward more intuitive and symbolic work inspired by her growing interest in human development, identity, and personal transformation. Her current work reflects the courage to break free from limiting patterns and live authentically. This exploration also informs her speaking and storytelling. Steph recently gave a second TEDx talk, “How to Transform Your Life by Shifting Your Perception,” combining live painting with a reflection on perspective, choice, and personal growth. She is currently developing a multidisciplinary project titled “The Art of Becoming Unapologetically You,” combining a book, immersive art exhibition, and storytelling experience exploring the creative process of transformation. The project is supported by an art grant and will culminate in a public solo exhibition in 2027. Steph began exhibiting in Switzerland in 2005 and has since shown her work internationally. Highlights include her Jazz Colours series at the Montreux Jazz Festival (2010–2011), The 100 Faces Project exhibited at Cité du Temps in Geneva (2012–2013), and her New York cityscape series painted on used NYC transit cards, which sold out at the Single Fare 4 exhibition in New York in 2017. Her work has been exhibited across Europe and the United States, including Speerstra Gallery in Switzerland, Art3F Brussels, Spectrum Miami during Art Basel Miami, Art Shopping in Paris and Galerie Alpine in Villars.
