About The Artwork
A friend suggested this painting. I've been a New York Giants Football fan from the time I was a child. They were known as Big Blue and I decided to paint some of my favorite and iconic players in one group on a bench waiting to take the field. Hence the title: Big Blue Bench. I painted them around 1956 when they moved from the Polo Grounds to Yankee stadium. Y. A. Tittle has just gotten off the bench to face the defending team.
