Big Red is inspired by the creation of gold, where two suns of other universes must die and collide. I use this as a metaphor for things changing to create something new and beautiful. I hope that this inspires the viewer to feel positive about change, especially big change. I have used 18ct gold leaf to adorn the sculpted star, set on canvas painted with the highest quality artist grade acrylic. The crimson colour used is bold and powerful, in may cultures represent luck. I hope that this piece brings the person in possession luck and positivity in any changes they are going through.

Ashley is a contemporary expressionist painter. Born just outside of London in the early 80s his art focuses on shape and colour. He is inspired by natural sciences and the beauty of raw materials. In his latest series, Ashley uses simple shapes, colours and materials to express deep philosophical metaphors. The pieces are visually and emotionally striking, evoking different feelings from each viewer who attach their own experience of love or life to the work.
