The West Coast is a vast and picturesque expanse.
Over the years it has given me great comfort,
escape and connection to nature. Pacific Abstract
is a celebration of my favorite coastline. These
abstract landscapes are inspired by personal
experiences and memories. Each painting starts
from a sketch or a photograph, but the heart of
the image is the emotion it evokes. I'm drawn to
the imperfections of nature- for those
imperfections are what make it beautiful and
unique.

Pete Oswald is an accomplished and in-demand animation production designer, who is also on the rise in the fine arts world. For the past four years, he served as production designer for the Angry Birds Movie. Passionate about painting, Pete is also active in the fine arts space. He recently debuted a collection of paintings inspired by the California Coast, in the pop-up art gallery show, “Pacific Abstract.” The show, hosted at Santa Monica’s Bergamot Station, captures his observations in an impressionistic, yet graphic style. The series celebrates Pete’s affinity for his favorite coastline, inspired by his personal experiences since moving to Los Angeles from his native Utah to attend Loyola Marymount University. Pete previously has shown his work at WWA Gallery in Culver City. Also an avid children’s book illustrator, he drew the Did You Know? series for Simon and Schuster. He has two books he created and illustrated coming out in 2017 – Mingo the Flamingo and The Bad Seed.
