ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I painted Bill Murray because he reminds me of all the great story telling he did in films while I was growing up. Ghostbusters and Stripes, and What About Bob are often referenced at my house. Even my kids joke about "I'm sailing! I sail." I also loved his work in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. As I enter middle age I reflect on Zissou's fall from grace and how he rallied his crew to glory again. I hoped to capture some of this in my portrait. Did I succeed?
