Judith Cahill was born in Ontario and divides her time living in Vancouver, on the west coast of British Columbia and spending summers in Ontario. She is most inspired by what she is surrounded by in the Pacific Northwest and Ontario Cottage Country. The stunning colours of the earth, the sky, the water, the Pacific ocean, the lakes, the rugged landscapes and horizons. I love working with the versatile nature of acrylic paint and adding different fluids and mediums to create movement, vibrancy and texture. Then, by using different brushes, tools, scrapers and knives, I create works of art that are derivative or imaginative, spontaneous and dynamic. “My aim in painting is to eliminate extraneous visual detail and to paint the feeling, the presence, the humanity. It is existential. It requires being present in the feeling and the moment, paying attention to the tone, the light, the colour and the content, unbiased by what has occurred to this point and what may come.” Paintings are in private collections across Canada, Europe, Australia and the US. Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and several other Artists’ Associations.
