About The Artwork

I was inspired to create this picture by an old armchair, an armchair with a past. I wanted to paint a colorful but at the same time a calm picture. That's why the yellow area is completely calm, there is no floor or wall, the same color everywhere. We still have the feeling that the armchair is in a room. In contrast to the monochrome background, the black surface has textures. I actually pressed a soft material into the still fresh paint to create an inner structure, a plasticity. They could be signs of wear from leather or fabric. That's why the armchair seems almost realistic and spatial to us. The illusion of space also comes from the three small feet, which are arranged in perspective. Placing the chair to the left also increases this effect of space. We could almost enter the picture space and take a seat there. An image that is both abstract and objective, with contrasts between yellow and black, calm and exciting.

I am a Berlin based painter. I was born in Transylvania and attended an art school and an art academy. I have a classical academic education. After I moved to Germany in 1985, I continued to develop my painting style but also pursued new artistic paths. My work is mostly figurative, centered around societal, lifestyle, political and economic themes. The "modern man" with his way of life, as well as his feelings take up the most prominent place. Textiles, too, have a central role in my work. They are often the triggering element, at the basis of the work process itself. My goal is to create an illusion, so that mixed mediums on the canvas are not visible right away. The paint is applied in a thin layer, so that the process of painting is visible. My work has been shown at several art fairs, such as KIAF, Soul, Art Karlsruhe, Art Market Budapest, Cologne List, Berlin etc. I was fortunate to receive some art scholarships and my paintings are also represented in several private and public collections such as Daimler Art collection, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau Frankfurt, Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart, Südwestbank Stuttgart, Städtische Kunstsammlung Kirchheim unter Teck, Städtische Museen Heilbronn, Landratsamt Heilbronn, Städtische Galerie Esslingen, Stadt- und Fachwerkmuseum Eppingen, IG Metall- Zentrale Frankfurt am Main, Stadt Güglingen, Stadt Neckarsulm, Heimatmuseum Flacht, E-Werk Freiburg, Hallen für Kunst, TTR Technologiepark Tübingen-Reutlingen, Sammlung KOGART, Budapest, Stadt Samorin/SK, Stadt Štúrovo/SK.
