What inspired 'I'm on my way HOME' was the artists journey to and from University. Going back and forth from school and home made him aware of the juxtaposing locations. One location was progressive and the other was degrading. 'I'm on my way home' is a reference to Gil Scott-Herons' 'Home is where the hatred is'. The song explores the artists familiarity with something that shouldn't be normalised. and also the need to leave that particular thing. In relation to this piece, the references within it collectively mark a time where the artist accepted he had to leave a place that is near and dear to his heart. the viewer will see an interruption within a series of consistent works, a piece that stands out amongst the rest. The medium chosen is spray and acrylic paint. Spray paint is significant because the artist was introduced to graffiti at a young age. He feels like he can articulate himself though visual imagery and expression.
