About The Artwork
This is another in my series inspired by the work of artists at Black Mountain College. Acrylic on 1.5" stretched canvas, unframed and signed on the side. I live in Black Mountain, NC, the location of the progressive arts Black Mountain College (1933-1957). I am an abstract expression painter, and from a young age, I was attracted to and inspired by the work of the artists in this movement. Since moving here, I feel more motivated by those who once lived, learned, taught, and created their work here, (de Kooning, Rauschenberg, Motherwell, Albers, Kline). I create this color field acrylic on stretched canvas work in their spirit.

I have been creating artwork and photographs for over 50 years. My painting was influenced at a very early age by the abstract expressionist movement of the early-mid twentieth century. Photographically my inspiration came from the likes of Minor White, Edward Weston, Garry Winograd and Jerry Uelsmann. I've lived in numerous locations in the USA and overseas but now make my home in St Augustine, Florida. I paint in oil and acrylics on canvas, favoring large panels. For my photographic works I use both traditional analog and digital equipment.
