Painting, for me, is an act of attention, a way to slow down and distill the world into its essential forms. My work begins with the everyday: a leaf on the path, the curve of a branch, the way light falls on a wall.
These quiet moments, often overlooked, become the foundation of my practice.
I simplify, reduce, and abstract, searching for the poetry in ordinary things.
I choose painting because it feels limitless.
There’s a physicality to it, the drag of a brush, the layering of pigment, the way a surface holds history. I work with my hands, building textures, reusing materials, letting accidents guide me. Even when a composition appears minimal, it carries the weight of process: the decisions, the revisions, the moments where intuition takes over.
I’m drawn to near-monochrome palettes and color blocks. There’s elegance in limitation, a clarity that lets form speak first.
My shapes are deliberate, softened by the hand that made them.
Hovering between recognition and abstraction.
Nature is a constant reference, though never literal. It’s the structure of a leaf’s veins, the weight of a shadow, the rhythm of repeated lines. I pare these down to their essence, finding the balance between geometry and organic flow.
There is always an atmosphere, not of place, but of origin. The tropical atmosphere of Brazil seeps into the paintings quietly, not as subject, but as the light that shapes how I see colour, the warmth that comes with every choice.
Above at all, about presence.
I don’t paint to explain; I paint to notice. To find the extraordinary in the simple.
