I’ve always liked the blue and orange as the color theme for a painting. Though tulips do not last very long, they have an interesting way of spreading out in a vase. I think this captures that time. The oranges on the table balance the painting so the viewer is not led out of the painting by the drooping tulips.

I am a native New Yorker who has resided in the Boston area for almost thirty years and employed as a chemical engineer. I’ve always had an interest in art, but came to painting over the past ten years, and with more focus over the past three years. I paint mainly in oil, but in acrylic and watercolor too. Inspiration comes from many things and places, in particular walking and biking in Boston, travels, observing people, and nature. Artists that have inspired me include the Impressionists but many contemporary painters as well. While landscape paintings are my preference, I enjoy painting cityscapes, seascapes, and still life too.
