Ukraine-based painter Milana Levadna creates psychologically charged animal portraiture… Milana received a Master of Arts degree from the The Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts , and has been exhibiting since 2017. Her paintings can be found in private collections in Ukraine, Poland, North and South America, Canada, Germany, France, Asia and Denmark. Her concern is to convey the frailty and unique of living beings. The animals in the Milana’s artworks are often lonely, but this is not about sadness, but about comfort and tranquility alone with themselves. She pays an incredible amount of attention to the anatomical details of the animals she represents, ensuring that each creature is skillfully and accurately captured. Also, the artist often depicts a carpet surface or decorative patterns in her artworks in order to evoke a feeling of coziness in the viewer. Stylistically, Milana operates contrasting thick and thin strokes, dark and light colours, and smooth and rough textures to achieve his artistic vision and creating an atmosphere that invites personal introspection. In many of the artworks, Milana keeps her colours nicely muted and calmly toned, to create a soothing effect that beautifully emphasises the naturalistic elements of her artwork.
