I have been inspired by Marcel Duchamp's work "La Boîte-en-Valise," born from his desire to create a portable retrospective of his art. In 1935, he conceived the idea of assembling a box with miniature replicas of his works, transforming it into a mobile museum. This innovative proposal allowed Duchamp to redefine the role of the artist as both a salesman and curator of his own creations. I aim for viewers to grasp the narrative within Art History about artists who have created their own museums, exemplified by Duchamp's "Boîte-en-Valise," Filliou's "Galerie Légitime," and Broodthaers' "Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles." Following this narrative, I founded the Davis Museum Barcelona in 2009, materialized in an electoral urn and shared through social media. This museum acts as a ready-made sculpture, a contemporary art collection, a digital archive, a non-profit collective project, and a culturally recognized entity. This painting is part of the "Paintings Section," which includes portraits of Duchamp, Filliou, and Broodthaers, as well as still lifes representing their works "Boîte-en-Valise," "Galerie Légitime," and "Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles." Davis Lisboa (São Paulo, Brazil, 1965) is a visual artist based in Barcelona since 1986. Throughout his career, he has worked across diverse media, including drawing, painting, digital art, and video, exploring the boundaries between applied and fine arts, high and low culture, art and the marketplace, as well as craftsmanship and technology. In addition to his work as an illustrator and painter, Lisboa is the creator of the Davis Museum | The Davis Lisboa Mini-Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, an innovative online project that functions both as a work of art in its own right and as a platform for the promotion of international contemporary artists. This mini-museum, conceived as a conceptual artwork, challenges traditional exhibition conventions by presenting pieces that blur the lines between viewer and artwork, encouraging critical reflection on art accessibility and the democratization of culture. Lisboa has participated in numerous exhibitions and art events of international significance, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the global contemporary art scene.
