About The Artwork

This artworks belongs to my project called "Soft Power" and it represents the soft power of the South American country Bolivia. It is known as soft power, the symbolic power of a country, directly responsible for its prestige on the international stage. This includes the elements and practices – clichés or not – that configure its cultural heritage, both material and immaterial. The difference of hard power, which consists of the physical resources of a country – territorial extension, access to the sea, potable water reserves, energy sources, infrastructure, population, forces and military capacity –, the soft power is characterized by its symbolic collection and for the creative capacity of its inhabitants – in other words: its capacity of seduction. Yet “portraying cultural repertoires by means of words” is a brief explanation that should be given to not extend myself so much, the Soft Power project is very interdisciplinary and the different disciplines converge in the works according to the relevance they have, the contexts of each represented place. The works of this project are landscapes, in the expanded sense. In addition, it is a collaborative project, since I depend on interviewing about 20 natives from each country, so that they can share their repertories with me. It’s their voices that compose the pieces. My Master degree thesis had this project as theme.

Master in Visual Arts by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Bachelor in International Relations and in Cultural Production, with Specialization in Child Literature. Studied with scholarship at Parque Lage’s School of Visual Arts (Rio de Janeiro). My artistic production is directly related to global art scene, and approaches themes that are in the international agenda, like languages and culture heritage preservation; NQBR weapons of mass destruction proliferation; sexual and gender diversity, cybercrimes, and communication codes. Always under a decolonized perspective. With characteristics and collaborative processes that put my work in the contemporary field of art, I work with multiple mediums and artistic languages, such as painting, photography, performance, digital art, video, NFT and hybrid techniques.
