This work is made in oilpaint and acrylicpaint. Danielle is inspired by nature and in this painting mostly the leafs of plants. The colors that she choose here are deep and vibrant blues. In contrast to the plants in real life, that are green. This gives the painting a more mystic feeling and maybe it reminds more of the night.Or is it a world underwater? Could be... The work consist of different layers in very diluted paint. This gives depth to the work and allows her to build up the work in the same layers as you see in, for example, a forest. next to adding paint she also removes paint in the proces. this is done with sanding papers or cotton cleaning rags. In this way light is brought into the painting. How is she inspired by nature? During walks at home and abroad, Danielle constantly gets ideas that could be painted. She photographs or stores them in her memory. Once in the studio, the photos evoke images. Without making studies or sketches prior to the work, she starts an intuitive painting process. “I put the photos that I took aside, and try to let go of everything that I’ve seen or that I know. The paintings that come to life are entirely unique paintings that oscillate between abstraction and landscapes.” The strength of her works is based on the interaction between herself and the painting. In the process the work is communicating with her in a language that sounds familiar to her but at the same time forces up new words on her all the time. It is like searching for synonyms in paint. Memories do come to mind at these moments, but the action of creating, the dialogue between her and the work, is always leading.

About the work of Danielle van Broekhoven welcome at the account of Danielle. A intuitive, expressive and brave painter ;-) She makes large scale painting that are colorful, full of structures and chemical processes. That burst with energy and expres a great love for nature, a botanical world, art from other painters and the action of painting itself. The strength of her works is based on the interaction between herself and the painting in the making. While experimenting with paint and other materials, memories come to mind, but the action in the studio, the dialogue between her and the works created at that moment, is always leading. Painting in this phase is very intuitive, active and physical. During the painting in layers, the canvas is alternately laid down and placed upright. Large pools of acrylic paint are poured over oil paint. Parts are (again) polished away, other parts are highlighted and extra emphasized by a new layer of paint. In the striking, powerful gestures with which she applies the paint, there is a certain audacity in handwriting and brushstrokes, a determination in choosing and treating her materials. Without being fully aware of it, she brings those characteristics together in paintings that ultimately always "burst with energy and at the same time bring harmony."
