ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Botox Soup" is a strategic critique of societal obsession with youth and attractiveness. Fittingly, 'botox'- a symbol of our fight against time, becomes a metaphor throughout. The artwork humorously juxtaposes discussion around social media with how people historically referred to television. As TV sees its dominance dwindling, TikTok emerges as the new media champion. Amidst laughter, iconic Campbell’s cans appear - a nod to consumerism turning into our daily sustenance. A subtle reference to diversity, encapsulated by the 'Pride Soup' label backdrops this critique. Concealed snippets of text in the canvas cleverly remind us of the unheard voices and obscured truths still present in our digitally-dominated society.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1976 and now based in Spain, Diego Tirigall grew up in a family of antique dealers and art restorers, instilling in him a deep respect for art from a young age. A self-taught artist, Tirigall has developed a unique style that blends elements of neo-expressionism, art brut, and street art. His work is characterized by bold primary colors and a knack for deconstructing pop culture, offering a critique of modern life without dwelling on its darker aspects. Tirigall's art aims to activate critical reflection in the viewer, challenging them to decode and engage in meaningful debate on current issues like financial decentralization and screen addiction.
