This acrylic on canvas painting represents the urban organism, a biological interpretation of urbanisation. I use striking colours to accentuate the plant-like similarities of cities, drawing both a large city and a bouquet of flowers. This urban geography is entirely fictional, created to make a statement about humanities placement within a natural context.

From above, cities reveal themselves - enormous, sprawling, glowing, unapologetic. Here lies a profound nature, a human being denied placement in biological the sciences. Our modern form is often assumed to be an unnatural, destructive imposition on Utopia. This interpretation is incompatible with evolutionary theory, which requires that every THING figure into natural history. Thus, evolutionary biology would suggest modern humanity is not separate from nor in conflict with Nature. I suggest the urban organism belongs here, that Earth is still in control.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am a scientist and artist. My hand-painted, abstract cities represent the Urban Organism, a biological interpretation of urbanisation. My cities are imagined. If a real location is painted, it is an idealised vision of the future, a case study in urbanisation. The pieces featured here do not represent my full body of work. You're seeing archival artwork only.
