"Bouquets" Painting

Olena Romashkina is a Ukrainian contemporary artist whose intuitive paintings explore emotion, movement and hidden stories through line, color and intricate detail.
Her visual language is built from loose, expressive lines and layers of small forms that often create a fractal-like sense of depth. Flowers, animals and everyday objects become starting points for something less literal — a glimpse of a feeling, a memory or an imagined world.
Romashkina rarely begins with a fixed image in mind. She allows the painting to develop intuitively, responding to color, rhythm, music and unexpected shapes that appear on the surface. A small detail can become the beginning of an entire visual story.
Her approach to painting was influenced by her grandmother. As a child, Romashkina was fascinated when her grandmother, who had never considered herself able to draw, created a simple figure from circles and lines. That small moment became the beginning of her own artistic journey.
Today, line has become one of the artist's most recognizable elements — a kind of visual handwriting through which she explores light, shadow, movement and emotion.
Romashkina studied at the Ukrainian Academy of Printing and has exhibited in Ukraine, Germany and Slovenia. Her work has been presented in exhibitions including Blue and More at Hundertwasser Bahnhof Uelzen, Germany, Sundust at the Center for Contemporary Art in Slovenia, and Bückeburg en plein air in Germany.
Her works have also been featured by Saatchi Art in curated collections including Best of April, Less and More, Wintertime Flora & Fauna and collections supporting Ukrainian artists.
