About The Artwork

"Brave New World" is Aldous Huxley's most famous novel, a reference for lovers of dystopias and all those who think about how the world works and how best to organize society. In the author's vision, which dates from 1931, there are no longer citizens but only men and women conceived in a laboratory and classified by genetic aptitudes: programmed human beings, locked in a strict condition, who do not ask no questions, who do not think, and whose moments of obligatory happiness go through the consumption of the famous "soma" which we can find carved out on the mask of the woman represented here (based on the SAMO tag of Basquiat) ... This painting is a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas, it combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (many layers of transparent glaze and raised square). The painting is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 45 x 55 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
