This work is inspired by the painful process of healing that has to go through the stages of breaking and bleeding first. For there is no rebirth into a new reality before the darkness of death and destruction, till we see the light slowly shining through the crevices and through the rips and tears.

The underlying themes of my art more often than not seem to deal with the questions of identity, of reconciling the old with the new, of inspiration and of a psychological sense of belonging since these questions have preoccupied me for the better part of my life now. Therefore, although an intuitive and subconscious process, my own inner struggle to make sense of my human purpose in a complex and multilayered world seeps into my art. Having said that, if one were to ask me in the simplest terms why I make the abstract art that I do, the answer lies in the compulsive need to start with a blank canvas and losing sense of space and time till I have translated that untranslatable feeling onto the canvas.
