I was inspired to paint 'BrexitQueen' as a response to the question 'Where did 'Brexit' come from?'
The origins of 'Brexit' an be traced to Elizabethan England where economic independence from Europe was the Queens choice. Images of the Queen along with that indomitable British bulldog spirit were employed to rally the nation facing the Spanish Armada threat. Today my painting symbolises a nation divided by Brexit. The old indomitable spirit now used by 'Brexiteers and Remainers to further their opposing political agendas. Viewers will reflect and ponder "Is the unity of the Kingdom now lost forever...?
