A symbolic image of a British bulldog and the Union Jack which brought about the nationalist feelings that made Brexit happen. The image has 26 stars that represent the countries in the EU. The star that was the UK has dropped out. It now seems that Brexit is an unmitigated disaster, even Nigel Farage saying it hasn't worked. Brexit, a dream once held so dear, A promise of freedom, a future clear. But as the years passed and the votes were cast, It became clear that this dream would not last. The nation divided, the people torn, Leaving the EU, a path forlorn. Businesses suffered, trade came to a halt, The pound dropped, the economy vaulted. The people's will, it seemed, was not done, As the government struggled, the people undone. A deal proposed, but rejected with disdain, Brexit's failure, a nation's pain. But though the road ahead may be steep, We must not give up, nor fall asleep. For a brighter future, a better way, We'll find a solution, come what may.

I am a British artist born in Sri Lanka, I like to think that I have an appreciation for images that convey powerful ideas and concepts. I strive to create paintings that look obvious at first, but are more complex when you look at it for a while. Which makes an emotional connection and becomes thought provoking. I use animal metaphors to add a universal resonance and create an emotive quality, with a touch of humour and whimsy. My preferred mediums are oils and charcoal, which I use in a luscious and intuitive way to create work that I hope, is visually stunning and deeply meaningful. My work has been exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery in London, where I was a finalist in the BP Portrait Painting Awards and the Taylor Wessing Portrait Awards. At the age of 23, I was awarded by the Royal Society of Portrait Painters for creating the most outstanding work by a young artist. I have a body of work with Getty Images which is licensed around the world. My photographic images have graced the covers of TIME magazine, Le Monde, and other publications.
