The sun is setting behind Manhattan Bridge, New York, throwing golden reflections into the water. It had been a glorious day and the sky is still showing the different shades of blues and turquoise. This New York bridge is a prominent landmark with its graceful curves and supports. The outline of the city is shown behind it with the lights of the skyscrapers just coming to life. This is a magical time of the day. I took photos to capture the scene and finished the artwork in my studio. It is in oil and acrylic on stretched canvas ready to hang on your wall. My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
