Brutal Form (melancholy) is part of a series that explores my fascination with architectural models and sculptural maquettes. The paintings are initially created as 3D models within a computer program and then transcribed into oil on canvas as an act of diversion from the design process. I wanted the material qualities of the paint to 'humanize' the stark flatness of the computer image and bring to life the forms within the painting.
