About The Artwork
My latest inspiration/obsession.... Mid Century Modernism. I love playing around with these off-beat shapes and colours that are inspired by 50's and 60's architecture and art. The carefully hand painted shapes are highlighted with carefree drips of paint to add some unpredictability. It would have been such an exciting time to be creating new ideas. The freedom to design whatever your mind can come up with has helped me break out from the norm, and avoid the mainstream. These might not suit the beige, cream, off-white styles that I see in most interiors, but they will definitely make an impact. Lots of fun, and most importantly....lots of colour! This was one of my first of this series, and I played around with the shapes and background, repainting it several times. This has resulted in an interesting textured surface. Unintentional, but I like it.

I paint, because I love to paint. I allow myself the freedom to paint any subject, in any form. I refuse to be restricted by a certain style, or theme, instead I let inspiration, and the moment lead the way. From drawing dinosaurs, cars and designing football jersey's as a small child, to crazy abstract paint splashes as a big child, Art has always been a part of my life. I studied the traditional masters, and practised their techniques in my early years, but have since broadened my strokes to have the confidence to paint in whatever style inspires me in that moment. I cannot, and will not paint the same style over and over again, there is way too much fun to be had exploring all styles. Art for Art sake! I am passionate about Art, and I hope that is evident in my work. I have so much more to paint, and it feels like so little time to paint it. I cannot wait to see where my inspiration takes me next.
