Spending her teenage years in Austria, she soon found herself traveling and exploring different countries and cultures driven by the longing to understand through seeing. Her initial impulses evolved into constant visual research responsive to the feelings that arise through experiencing perspectives leading to a certain ‘understanding’ – her preferences aimed towards ‘overviews’. Her abstract, paint-based works mirror her interests in mapping time and alternate systems of society, alienation, escapism and topographical cartography. The layered artefacts she creates examine notions of the randomness of humanity and social codes, perception and projection, and escapism as central themes. Her artistic activities and output can be seen as research in mapping, documenting and visualising these fields. Seen in this context, her workflow is a constant stream of “Under Construction,” involving various materials such as alabaster, ink, pigment, nautical varnish, binder, salt, oil, glycerine, honey, and other elements provoking time and chemical reactions to achieve landscape-like gestures on diverse and multiple surfaces. The work further incorporates the use of geometry to categorise and sort emerging spaces, including the practice of mark making and use of imagery in a large role. Searching for patterns in photographs staged, found and collected, she uses this imagery as a base layer of content to connect and orchestrate visibility, motives, intentions and relations.
