CASANEGRA Painting

In today’s world, disparities between the haves and the have-nots are growing exponentially. So, in today’s urban environment, we can be the witness of some incongruous scenes, where people are driving such expensive cars whereas others are begging for money at the red stops for example. As the witness of these particular kind of scenes, I was first, as everybody can be, shocked and pained by them, by the poverty and the helplessness of these people. But, as time went by, they became more and more normal, until one day, I was surprised to be oblivious to it. As if, it was normal! I decided then, to paint this drawing as a reminder that the scene of people begging on the streets is not normal, and that as human beings, we must not forget to remain empathic towards those in less fortunate situation than ours.
