The term bardo comes from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition which I bring into contemporary arts as a metaphor. The bardo phases of dying, transitionong, and becoming are a metamorphosos of the individual soul during the life and death cycle or through a personal crisis. The "nature spirits" believed by the ancient Chinese to inhabit the roots of root vegetables, are given personality and life here through my art. I use acrylic markers on canvas in this piece. Signed on the back. "Cabbage Patch" was named such so that a gardener or someone that gets their hands dirty with soil would appreciate having this guide and protector image on their wall.
