Camo Flowers Painting

Nobody can ever walk past this painting without stopping. It's big and bold and spicy! The colors hit you like a train and kiss you like your first love. I express my feelings with strokes of paint. Painting begins by working with three different viscosities of acrylic paint, and gradually manipulating parts of the artwork into ink or watercolor-like paint. During the process I move the canvas from the floor or tabletop to a wall, or an easel. I use palette knives, rags, brushes, spray bottles, squeeze bottles and my fingers, sometimes flicking, or dripping paint onto the canvas to create spontaneity and a rich textured surface. The “Summer Crush” series is largely inspired by a recent move from my rural home studio located on a 27 acre farm in the foothills of the Appalachians, to the hustle and bustle of downtown Greenville, SC. These dynamic compositions reflects an optimism of moving towards new beginnings and the vibrant palettes express confidence, as I forge through a new creative path.
